Robin Sprong is based in Cape
Town, with an active Lomographic involvement since 2001.
In 2001 Robin entered and wone 3rd place at the international
Lomolympics : Tokyo. The same year he participated in Lomographic
events in Manchester for the Commonwealth games. Other events he
contributed to under the employment of Lomography were : Archers exhibitionin Glasgow ; Lomopilly exhibition held in an old bank on Skid Row in downtown LA ; New York
exhibition with Lomo New York and a Lomographic exhibition in St
Petersberg Russia. In the following years Robin left his mark at the
Lomographic World Congresses held in Vienna 2003 and Beijing 2005.
Back home, Robin has been taking Lomography to the people. He
photographed the Redbull Downhill Extream in 2004 & 2005 and has
run various community projects. In 2005 Robin ran a Lomographic project
in Phillipi with abandoned children which resulted in an exhibition at
Guga ‘sthebe Centre in Langa featured on the SABC news and ETV news. He
went on to do exhibitions with kids from the Red Cross Childrens
Hospital.
Today Robin inspires youngsters throughout Cape Town, doing talks at
Photographic Colleges and schools. Robin opened up Exposure, a
photographic concept gallery shop. This gallery space accomodates
up-and-coming photographers and provides them with a platform from
which to launch their careers.
