This series was shot in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2005. I visited the famous Recoleta Cemetery and spent the whole day shooting mausoleum details. The cemetery includes graves of some of the most influential and important figures of Argentina. Internationally, Eva Perón is the best known person buried in there. I was shooting stencil art at the same time with the idea of creating a small photo documentary of the subject. It was only years later that I noticed the new feeling these images conjured when presented together. I'm interested in Roman Catholic and Protestant imagery from a very personal and aesthetic point of view. My intention was not to create something pious but to venerate the scribbles and stencils of the dirty streets.
