Although Greg Lomas spends most of his time as a graphic designer, he has always explored other aspects of his creativity, through writing and illustration, but mainly photography. He loves the discipline of photography and how it forces a person to stop, to be still and patient, and to observe the world before us, as a certain subject for a period of time. He loves how a camera can instigate one to travel, and a camera is often the best companion to have on such adventures. All photographs in the Surrounds exhibition are shot in a lomographic L-CA camera, which Greg feels allows one to be more objective and voyeuristic being so unobtrusive and hidden.
The Surrounds exhibition is an exhibition of photographs documenting his experiences of living in Kalk Bay, and the beauty of the peninsula that surrounds the small fishing village, and as a collection try to explore environments and subjects that are foreign to people living nearby.
