Gavin Foley: Circles of Light

I specialise in pinhole photographs. I believe that pinhole photographs are to photography what slow food is to fine dining. I am constantly in awe of the fact that a hole in a piece of silver is capable of producing an image at all, let alone the images you see here with their soft, dreamlike quality.

All of the photographs have been taken with pinhole cameras that I have made myself. To date I have made nine cameras, including 4x5 inch format and 35mm format. The cameras are made of African Rosewood and the lens is made of silver. The f stop ranges from f181 to f285. Typical exposure time during bright sunshine is 6 seconds but once the sun has gone down exposure time rapidly increases to the five minute mark.
