Bernard Bruwer is a freelance photographer based in Cape Town who cultivated a strong interest in photography while studying film making, and now enjoys working on film and digital formats.
These images were taken while visiting the popular tourist destinations in Namibia: the Visrivier Canyon, Sossusvlei and Spitzkoppe and Kolmanskop.
'I was inspired not only by the obvious beauty and overwhelming scale of the landscapes, but also by the feeling of otherness - as a tourist, being both inside and outside the landscape. To depict this, I chose to photograph more intimate and confined spaces that nevertheless hint at the landscape outside the image, to the part that is invisible for those just passing through, which I hope will inspire a sense of reflection and curiosity in the viewer.'
