Sandy spent much of his childhood traveling Southern Africa and was destined to have an interest and passion of the life and landscapes of the area.
His passion for art came at a young age in many forms, with a keen interest in photography while studying visual communications in 2001he got hold of his first DSLR camera, but after a year's travel around the Caribbean and Spain in 2006, with camera in hand, he found his medium that would change the way he saw the world. He went on to perfect his skills at the National College of Photography.
He is now exploring this form of medium in new ways, breaking away from the mould of what we expect photography to be. Creating imagery that is unique and expressive.
Photomontage Series
I see my work as capturing parts of a scene as time and motion moves on. Every panel of a montage is taken from a different point of view as I walk up and down a location. Then the panels are carefully placed together to create a final image. I want someone to admire the scene and envisage themselves there. Look at the work as a whole and also look at the panels individually as they move onwards, as if taking a few steps forward while noticing the simple details in each panel. The art work creates feelings of presence, movement and time.
